Access Statement

Random-Rooms is an interactive real-life immersive game business located on the 1st and 2nd floors of a three storey building above the East Cowes Community Library. There is no lift, or other means of access in the building.

Our building is old and shared with a community library (not run by Random-Rooms) on the ground floor.

Our access statement below gives you information about the set up of the building and the games. Should you require any additional assistance in attending Random-Rooms or playing the games, or would like any further information please contact us at access@random-rooms.co.uk

OUTSIDE

There are Disabled Parking spaces in public car parks nearby.

The ground outside the building is flat, pavement with a very slight slope.

BUILDING

The building is accessed via a low step from street level. Inside the building there is a straight flight of stairs with handrails on both sides to access Random-Rooms on the 1st floor. Doorways throughout the building are a minimum of 686mm wide, with manual opening doors.

The 1st floor is all on the same level with a mixture of carpet and hard flooring.

The 2nd floor is accessed via a straight flight of stairs from the 1st floor with a handrail on one side.

The staircases, corridors, Reception and toilets are all well illuminated.

Reception: - Our reception area has a mixture of soft and hard backed seating to suit your comfort. There are male and female toilets next door to Reception with standard height cubicle toilets and sinks.

Games rules are written in English on a board for teams to read. These can be read to you if required; please ask your Game Supervisor when you arrive.

PRISONERS ROOM

The Prisoners Game room is on the 1st floor and has level access from Reception. Low level ‘atmospheric’ lighting is used during this game. Please advise us if you would prefer a different lighting arrangement, including fully illuminated, or speak to your Game Supervisor when you arrive.

Game play involves handling, picking up, and manipulating small objects. All objects used in game play with be between floor level and 2m in height. Please advise us if you would prefer objects to be located in an easier to reach level.

Game play involves reading clues and information which is written in English. Some text is small to add difficulty to the game.

There is seating available in this game room. Please advise us if you require any particular type of seating.

No particular level of strength of physical skill is required for this game.

GODDESS ROOM

The Goddess Game room is on the 1st floor and has level access from Reception. Normal lighting levels are used during this game although there are some very subtle lighting effects used during play.

Game play involves handling, picking up, and manipulating small objects. All objects used in game play with be between floor level and 2m in height. Please advise us if you would prefer objects to be located in an easier to reach level.

Game play involves reading clues and information which is written in English. Some text is small to add difficulty to the game.

There is seating available in this game room. Please advise us if you require any particular type of seating.

No particular level of strength of physical skill is required for this game.

MOTEL ROOM

The Motel Game room is on the 2nd floor and is up a straight flight of stairs (with single banister) from the first floor reception. Lower than normal lighting levels are used during this game.

Game play involves handling, picking up, and manipulating small objects. All objects used in game play with be between floor level and 2m in height. Please advise us if you would prefer objects to be located in an easier to reach level.

Game play involves reading clues and information which is written in English. Some text is small to add difficulty to the game.

At least one person in the room is required to differentiate between particular colours as part of a puzzle.

There is seating available in this game room. Please advise us if you require any particular type of seating.

No particular level of strength of physical skill is required for this game.

This game involves 1 or more team members reaching inside a large low level cupboard.

This room contains content that some participants may find disturbing.

Not suitable for persons under the age of 18.

“RANDOM” ROOM

The “Random” Game room is on the 2nd floor and is up a straight flight of stairs (with single banister) from the first floor reception. The game room is well illuminated but does make some use of coloured lights.

An illuminated, wall-mounted display clock flashes towards the end of the 60 minute countdown.

Game play involves handling, picking up, and manipulating small objects. All objects used in game play with be between floor level and 2m in height. Please advise us if you would prefer objects to be located in an easier to reach level.

Game play involves reading clues and information which is written in English. Some text is small to add difficulty to the game.

At least one person in the room is required to differentiate between particular colours as part of a puzzle.

At least one person in the room is required to listen to an audible clue

There is seating available in this game room. Please advise us if you require any particular type of seating.

No particular level of strength of physical skill is required for this game.
